Staff Accountant

We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Sanford, Maine. This role involves providing support for month-end financial close operations, balance sheet account reconciliations, and maintaining fixed asset ledgers. As a part of our team, you will also be required to assist with annual financial statement preparations and audit preparations.

• Act as a self-starter and team player within the department and company as a whole.
• Support month-end financial close processes, which includes the preparation of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Analyze key general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare detailed monthly reports to compare actual figures with budget variances.
• Contribute to maintaining internal controls by following policies and suggesting improvements for control and/or efficiencies.
• Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements, retirement plan, and workers comp audits.
• Handle fixed asset ledger maintenance and record related transactions.
• Assist with year-end physical inventory tasks.
• Seek additional assignments as time allows.
• Utilize ERP systems knowledge (Experience with Epicor is a plus).
• Leverage intermediate Excel skills for data analysis and record keeping.
• Utilize your background in cost accounting or manufacturing accounting, if available.
• Make every effort to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Provide value by using Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste in all forms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
