SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team at The Buccaneer Beach & Golf Resort in the U.S. Virgin Islands. In this role, the Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, assisting in budget preparation, and ensuring compliance with all accounting standards, resort policies, and applicable USVI regulations. This position supports the resort’s financial integrity by processing transactions, preparing reports, and coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth and accurate financial operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in hospitality accounting systems, multi-department financial management, and the unique seasonal demands of resort operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality or resort operations.
  • Experience with integrated hospitality accounting systems such as Sage 300, VisualOne, and Silverware preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with US Virgin Islands tax, gross receipts, and regulatory requirements a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Record daily financial transactions, including revenues, expenses, and payroll entries.
  • Prepare and reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and general ledger balances.
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset records and assist with depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare assigned sections of the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Verify and process vendor invoices, staff reimbursements, and purchase orders.
  • Support budget and forecast preparation by providing accurate financial data.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and USVI legal requirements.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
  • Protect confidential financial and personnel information.
  • Communicate effectively with resort management, department heads, and external vendors.
  • Adapt to seasonal fluctuations in workload typical of resort operations.
