Description

We are a Toronto-based boutique accounting firm seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team. This role involves the bookkeeping function, finalizing notice to reader engagements and preparation and filing of Corporate and Personal Tax Returns.
You’ll report to the branch manager and to the Principal CPA and work closely with clients to meet their accounting needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

5+ years of accounting experience out of which at least 2 years of Senior Bookkeeper or above.
Internationally qualified Chartered Accountant (e.g., CA, CPA, ACMA, ACCA) may be considered.
Knowledge of software such as QBO, Wage Point, Dext, Caseware, Dr Tax and MS suite are essential.
Strong knowledge of full cycle accounting to complete a compilation engagements, tax returns, and good knowledge of Canadian tax laws for private enterprise and ASPE are advantage.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Ensure monthly bookkeeping is done correctly on a timely manner and deliver monthly management reports to the clients.
Ensure that all compliance reporting activities such as HST, payroll, T4, T5, WSIB, EHT are prepared and filed on a timely manner. Also, to provide reports required by banks as part of compliance on clients bank facilities.
Compile Notice to Reader financial statements, Prepare and finalize Corporate and Personal Tax Returns.
Facilitate and provide request made by auditors (LPA) who prepare the Review engagement reports for our clients.
Manage Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Audits
Help and mentor a small team of junior bookkeeping staff. Review their work, and provide guidance, motivate and support team members.
Collaborate with clients on tailored solutions and prepare special request of various reports.
Various request made from time to time and to report directly to the principal.
You will be acting like an internal accountant, controller and bookkeeper for clients allocated to you and you will work with staff at client locations.
