STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Job Title: Staff Accountant| Department: Finance | Reports to: HR Manager | FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant will maintain financial records and ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded. The ideal candidate will ensure the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. This role prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. The Staff Accountant is a self-starter with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the A/R function, including preparation of invoicing for direct bill customers, responding to inquiries, posting payments, and updating sales reps of aging of outstanding balances.
  • Responsible for the A/P function, including review of vendor invoices against goods received, research and resolution of invoice inaccuracies, approval and execution of check runs.
  • Prepare financial statements including but not limited to reconciliation of balance sheets, P&L, cash flow, and budget forecasting.
  • Partner with authorized credit card users for monthly reconciliation of expenditures to associated G/L accounts
  • Post, reconcile and maintain sub-ledger journal entries including payroll, insurance, Workers’ Compensation, 401K, fixed assets, inventory, etc.
  • Prepare month end bank reconciliation including reporting on cash accounts, accruals, amortizations, and journal entry adjustments against general ledger balances.
  • Maintain accurate vendor information and conduct internal audits for annual 1099 processing.
  • Prepare bank deposits as needed
  • Assist in general office administration, as needed
