Description Victory Programs is a Boston-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families who are homeless and may have substance use disorders, often accompanied by chronic health issues like HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and mental illness. Providing a welcoming environment, our compassionate and inspiring team is committed to helping them regain their health and restore their hope through immediate access to safe and stable housing. We open doors to recovery, hope, and community to individuals and families facing homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction, and chronic illnesses like HIV/AIDS. Reporting to the Billing Manager, the Staff Accountant will work with our existing finance staff to support a busy, fast paced environment where accuracy, teamwork and timeliness are prioritized. Staff Accountants must possess strong analytical, communication, and people skills with grounding in accounting/finance best practices. The ideal individual should also be able to manage several projects simultaneously and complete tasks based on Victory Programs' priorities and deadlines. Essential Functions: Serve as the primary accountant fully responsible for all financial operations of a recently launched community based housing division, which supports hundreds of individuals exiting homelessness into permanent supportive housing. Manage weekly cash disbursements for rent payments, ensuring timely and accurate processing of checks and ACH payments to landlords and institutions Perform monthly contract billing for 15+ state and federal contracts, including preparation, submission, and reconciliation for invoices When necessary, work with program leadership and funders to amend contracts in light of spending trends Collaborate with program managers to align financial operations with program growth and organizational strategy Maintain organized records for audits and program site visits Qualifications: We seek a solutions-focused and collaborative problem-solver with a strong "can-do" attitude. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, professional, and capable of managing their workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced nonprofit environment. They should always exemplify customer service and a positive image. Associates degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; 1 plus years of experience in relevant position; Knowledge of general ledger or accounting software; Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel & Word, Google Workspace, and/or other office software; Complete TB Assessment (may be obtained upon hire); CPR certified (may be obtained upon hire); At least three professional references: with two being from a supervisor. Compensation: $28.00/hour Position Type: Full-time (40 hour s per week) Monday - Friday daytime hours. Hybrid eligible. Upon hire, employees working 20+ hours a week are entitled to up to: 4 personal days, 160 sick hours, 10 holidays and 3 1/2 weeks of vacation. These figures adjust based on full time or part time status and allocated vacation time increases with length of employment.
