Staff Accountant
Reports To: Controller
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Department: Accounting/Finance
Position Overview
The Staff Accountant is a key member of the accounting/finance team, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing actionable insights to support business decisions. This role covers all aspects of accounting from daily transactions to month-end close while partnering with operations, product, inventory, and supply chain teams. It also includes exposure to inventory management, cost accounting, and manufacturing-related financial processes.
Job Summary
The Staff Accountant manages accurate financial recordkeeping, supports month- and year-end close processes, and assists in preparing financial statements. This position requires strong attention to detail, solid knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries in compliance with GAAP.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close.
  • Track and reconcile inventory across raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
  • Support cost accounting efforts and maintain standard cost updates.
  • Prepare documentation for audits and tax filings.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions as needed.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations.
  • Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
  • Contribute to special projects and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
