STAFF ACCOUNTANT

The West Chester University Foundation is currently looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team. The Staff Accountant is responsible for general fund accounting, analysis, and financial reporting for the West Chester University Foundation. The Staff Accountant will assist with general fund accounting, perform account and fund reconciliations and analysis, maintain the general ledger, assist in tax return schedules, prepare schedules and workpapers for the annual audits, and perform other accounting duties as assigned to ensure accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • At least 1-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the non-profit sector or public accounting.
  • Knowledge of fund accounting and non-profit management.
  • Knowledge of IRS Form 990 and non-profit regulations is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, and Teams) with strong Excel skills.
  • Strong computer skills required, particularly experience with automated general ledger systems, or the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new financial software (Blackbaud FENXT is a plus).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritize work within reporting deadlines, and adapt to changing environments.
  • Excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate the utmost in professionalism.
