Job Description AECOM is seeking a Staff Civil Engineer in Oakland, California to support dam, levee, and hydropower infrastructure projects as part of our industry-leading Pacific Dams / Hydro practice. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated early-career engineer to build a strong technical foundation while contributing to projects that enhance the safety, resilience, and long-term performance of critical infrastructure systems throughout Northern California and the western United States. The successful candidate will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and technical specialists to support analysis and design efforts for a wide range of dam and water resources facilities. This position provides hands-on experience across multiple phases of project development, including planning, design, construction support, and regulatory coordination, with strong mentorship and clear pathways for professional growth. This position is expected to begin ASAP. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Participate as a member of teams providing analysis and design support for technical and feasibility studies for a variety of water infrastructure projects. Development of plans, technical specifications, and quantities for construction cost estimates. Create design models in AutoCAD Civil 3D for the purposes of analysis, construction plans and cost estimates. Participate as field and/or office engineering technician during construction projects. Assist with preparation of technical reports and memoranda. Coordinate design elements with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree, or pursuing a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6-12 months. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Familiarity with grading layout and design. Exposure to takeoff and quantity development for earthwork projects. Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills. Additional Information We are interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States.
