    Role Summary
    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to drive the evolution and scaling of our firmware build infrastructure. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize our internally facing cloud-based build and release environment. Your contributions will ensure the reliability, scalability, and efficiency needed to support our growing firmware development efforts. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Implement & Innovate Multi-Cloud Solutions: Design and implement robust, scalable cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, and GCP), with a primary focus on leveraging Crossplane and GitOps methodologies.
  • Champion GitOps Best Practices: Lead the deployment and configuration of Crossplane on EKS/Kubernetes clusters, ensuring streamlined and automated infrastructure management using ArgoCD or similar tools.
  • Optimize Cloud Resource Management: Manage the full lifecycle of cloud resources, implementing advanced orchestration techniques to maximize efficiency and scalability.
  • Platform Support: Provide self-service solutions with a high level of quality and support using human-centered design to drive solutions.
  • Drive Advanced Infrastructure Compositions: Build sophisticated Crossplane compositions to enable dynamic, secure, and automated infrastructure setups.
  • Mentor & Collaborate: Partner with cross-functional teams to establish architecture standards and best practices while guiding junior engineers and fostering a collaborative environment

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Expertise in Multi-Cloud Environments: 8+ years of hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, with a focus on cloud-native solutions.
  • Deep Crossplane Knowledge: Proven experience deploying, configuring, and managing Crossplane to orchestrate cloud resources.
  • Proficiency in GitOps & Kubernetes: Hands-on experience with GitOps workflows and tools like ArgoCD, Flux, or similar, alongside in-depth Kubernetes (K8s) expertise.
  • IaC Mastery: Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Crossplane, Pulumi, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Development with CRDs/XRDs: Strong track record of designing and maintaining Custom Resource Definitions and Crossplane compositions.
  • Problem-Solving & Automation Focus: Ability to tackle complex challenges with a focus on scalability, automation, and security.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to mentor, lead technical discussions, and influence architecture decisions

Pay Disclosure
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $171,100-$226,740 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Based Applicants: $137,300-$181,890 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
