Description
  Under direction, the Staff Developer provides instruction to the hospital staff, including health care providers and nonclinical employees. The Staff Developer is responsible for enacting training programs for organizational staff, that align with the organization's mission. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Engages in hospital-wide educational programs and training activities to help the hospital develop and maintain a competent staff, enhance the quality of care, and implement and achieve its mission, goals, and objectives. * Assists with the coordination of education functions and services to meet the organization's current and future needs for efficiency and effectiveness. * Assists with the Education Department's functions and services, nursing orientation, in-service skills training, staff education and training, community education, continuing nursing education, continuing medical education for physicians, audiovisual and library resources. * Assists with designing, developing, presenting learning experiences to improve performance, increase specific skill levels and effectiveness of the staff and facilitates changes. * Participates in the Education Department's continuing education programs and services implementing changes as needed. * Provides CPR instruction to staff and community and teaches others classes to employee and community as needed. * Assists in all aspects of training with appropriate age specific competencies for training staff. * Maintains a safe environment. * Provides for life support. * Acts as a patient advocate. * Cooperates as a member of the nursing unit, department and overall hospital team. * Participates in performance improvement. * Performs related work as required. * Communicates pertinent data to appropriate parties. * Maintains confidentiality. * Conducts himself/herself effectively in stressful situations. Education: Associates degree in nursing required. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. License/Certifications: La State RN license, CPR, ACLS and PALS required.   Experience: 5 years' experience in recent hospital and/or nursing practice experience as an RN required. Additional experience preferred: * Current knowledge of clinical practice. * Recent hospital experience and / or previous nursing practice experience required. * Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment. * Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients. * Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. * Knowledge of theory, principles, techniques, and practice of professional nursing; of scientific principles and nursing research; of preparation, administration, and actions of medications; of treatments and medical procedures; of counseling and teaching techniques; of medical equipment as it relates to patient care. * Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Publisher. * ECG interpretation and instruction competent. * ACLS, PALS, & BLS Provider and Instructor competent. * MSN preferred.
