Job Location: Base is negotiable in the Southwest, Central/Northeast area of Missouri.
Individual(s) selected for this position may receive a higher rate based on a pay differential (e.g., shift, or time-of-service pay).
The Children’s Division is seeking applications for the position of Staff Development Training Specialist.
If you enjoy developing and providing high quality, facilitative training to Children’s Division staff across the state. This position develops curriculum in project groups and utilizes several different tools. Staff Development Specialists works in computer programs that helps develop online training modules and instructor led trainings. Training is offered in a variety of methods including virtual and in-person training. This position has some duties that include coaching staff one on one and making sure that attendance is completed for each class. Staff Development Specialists should be able to manage and read a classroom, be creative and have the ability to train in a facilitative manner. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The operator of a motor vehicle is an essential function of this classification. Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties upon the date of hire and throughout employment.
  • This position requires travel throughout the entire State of Missouri.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A High School Diploma or High School Equivalent and Six or more years of professional or technical experience in a business, governmental, or military setting, where the primary duties involved formal classroom training, training course design and development, and/or curriculum planning; professional teaching experience at the high school level or above; and/or educational administration involving responsibility for curriculum planning and the supervision of teaching staff.
OR
One or more years of experience as a Staff Development Trainer with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.
OR
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Education, Business or Public Administration, the social sciences, or a closely related field; and,
Two or more years of professional supervisory experience with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.
OR
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Education, Business or Public Administration, the social sciences, or a closely related field; and,
Two or more years of professional or technical experience in a business, governmental, or military setting, where the primary duties involved formal classroom training, training course design and development, and/or curriculum planning; professional teaching experience at the high school level or above; and/or educational administration involving responsibility for curriculum planning and the supervision of teaching staff.
(A combination of earned credit hours from an accredited college or university in the preferred fields such as social work, family and child development, special education, psychology, sociology, or related behavioral sciences and experience described may substitute for the stated qualifications. 30 credit hours are equivalent to 1 year of experience. Professional experience as described must be of a substantial period of time (over 50% of time)).
(Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required education.)

Responsibilities
  • This position provides required training to staff regarding policy, procedures, and programs.
  • The position is also responsible for providing feedback and aids in development and delivery of new and revised training materials.
  • This position is responsible to develop and deliver training in a variety of formats including computer based, virtual and in person opportunities as well as moving forward key priorities from the Division, Department, and Safety Task Force.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
