In this position…
The Staff Systems Engineer will be responsible for overall electrical system performance and reliability. The successful candidate will lead trade studies associated with various system architecture proposals to help make a cross functional decision on the most suitable system architecture considering program deliverables, available resources, and other constraints.
The staff systems engineer will play a leading role for root causing system issues through modeling, reviewing test results, and performing other relevant studies. In this role, you will be working side by side various cross functional teams including but not limited to HV systems, LV systems, subsystem HW design, application SW, and system functional safety team to provide innovative solutions for improving system reliability.
As a staff system engineer, you will conceptualize, design, engineer, develop, and support the launch of next-generation vehicle platform architectures for electric vehicles.

You’ll have…

• B.S in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• 10+ years of relevant experience
• Familiar with latest electrical system architectures in EVs
• Familiar with system communication protocols including LIN, CAN, etc.
• Experienced with LV and HV system architecture and developing interface diagrams
• Highly skilled in working with cross-functional teams to develop a new system architecture
• Highly skilled in Power Electronics system design including analog / digital controls and power
• Experienced with using simulation tools such as LT-Spice, PLECS, MATLAB-SIMULINK, etc. to run system studies
• Experienced with the latest bidirectional power conversion systems, topologies, and trade-offs
• Familiar with automotive EMI/EMC requirements
• Knowledge of root cause analysis tools including but not limited to fish-bone diagram, ABA studies, 8D process and documentation
• Working knowledge of DFMEA, FMEDA, and functional safety
• Proven debugging and diagnostic skills in electrical, mechanical, and software domains
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team

Even better, you may have…

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related fields
• 15+ years of combined electrical HW design and electrical system development experience
• 10+ years of Power Electronics system design experience
• In depth knowledge of latest semiconductor technologies including GaNs and SiC-MOSFETs
• Experienced with design and development of various subsystems in an EV electrical system architecture including batteries, battery management systems, power conversion systems, LV and HV loads, and electric drive units
• Extensive experience with switching mode power supply design and root cause analysis
• Highly skilled with advanced problem solving tools such as fish-bone diagram, Design For Six Sigma (DFSS), FA report, 8D documentation, etc.
