AMBER is a GE Aerospace hybrid electric demonstration program under Avio Aero co-ordination to mature a hybrid systems architecture for future regional turboprop application. AMBER is supported by EU and complementary national external funding across Europe. Aim of the AMBER program is to mature the critical technology element of the architecture up to their demonstration in a full propulsion system ground test and prepare for following flight demo.
This job is for the Staff Engineer - Technology Maturation Leader of the AMBER demonstrator program and represents an exciting opportunity to drive the definition and execution of AMBER technology maturation across several disciplines and modules/components. The Technology Maturation Leader will join the AMBER Systems team within the Advanced Technology Operations section and report to the AMBER Program Systems Leader.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Materials or Aerospace Engineering preferred
  • Sound and proven experience in an engineering position, with roles of significant responsibilities in systems engineering and/or different technical disciplines related to propulsion
  • Experience in the development of complex products/systems from technology acquisition phase through New Product Introduction phase
  • Experience in aircraft integration of novel propulsive architectures and aircraft requirements management experience
  • Familiarity with Research & Technology development processes
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate at a variety of levels, from detailed design reviews to high-level leadership reviews
  • Fluency in English with demonstrated proficiency in written, oral, and presentation skills
  • Work VISA, according to local regulation, is required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead AMBER key technology validation with specific focus on electric / electronic technologies to meet required TRL ahead of full ground demonstration. Lead the execution of the AMBER Electrical Power Flow (EPF) demo.
  • Coordinate within AMBER Systems team to ensure standard work on TRL requirements. Activities will span multiple components, sub-systems and disciplines and will require strong alignment with respective AMBER Systems Integration Leaders.
  • Strengthen collaboration with key technology partners and suppliers and ensure engagement to execute respective work-scope in line with overall AMBER needs (technical, costs and schedule).
  • Work with AMBER Systems Leader to maintain AMBER technology roadmaps aligned with broader Avio Aero and GE Aerospace Future of Flight strategy, identify and advocate for additional opportunities to increase program impact to the business.
  • Be the point of contact within AMBER Systems in the coordination with Avio Aero and other European GE Aerospace external funding teams to define the strategy for engagement with local government and funding agencies.
  • Lead and support technical and program reviews, regularly report to key stakeholders, including technical experts and executive leadership
  • Ensure compliance with GE Aerospace best practices and processes, ensure proper documentation of activities.
