This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced platform engineer who is passionate about building scalable, secure, and resilient distributed systems. In this role, you will help shape the technical direction of core platform services while collaborating across engineering, product, and infrastructure teams. Develop backend services and distributed applications using modern programming languages and functional programming principles. Lead platform-wide initiatives aimed at improving reliability, scalability, performance, security, and developer experience. Architect, containerize, deploy, and maintain cloud-native services using technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure platforms. Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, infrastructure automation, and operational best practices. Apply security-first engineering principles, including secure coding practices, secrets management, vulnerability mitigation, and infrastructure protection. Drive performance analysis, system optimization, test automation, and reliability improvements across critical services. Integrate and manage third-party services and APIs while ensuring operational excellence and observability. Explore opportunities to incorporate AI and machine learning capabilities into platform solutions and workflows. Serve as a technical mentor and subject matter expert, guiding engineers, influencing architecture decisions, and elevating engineering standards across teams. Collaborate closely with product leaders, engineers, and stakeholders to define requirements, troubleshoot complex issues, and deliver impactful solutions. Research emerging technologies and advocate for innovations that improve platform capabilities and create business value. Requirements: 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant expertise in distributed systems, platform engineering, and large-scale architecture design. Strong proficiency in typed and functional programming languages such as C#, TypeScript, Haskell, Scala, or comparable technologies. Deep understanding of software architecture principles, including secure, scalable, and maintainable system design. Extensive experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases, with strong knowledge of PostgreSQL preferred. Proven expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or equivalent cloud-native technologies and infrastructure platforms. Strong knowledge of DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, Infrastructure as Code, and automation practices. Experience implementing application and infrastructure security best practices across development and operational environments. Demonstrated success in performance optimization, scalability improvements, testing strategies, and system reliability initiatives. Experience integrating, monitoring, and managing third-party APIs and external services. Interest or hands-on experience with AI and machine learning technologies in production environments. Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity while making sound technical decisions. Proven mentoring and leadership capabilities, with a track record of helping engineers grow and increasing overall team effectiveness.
