Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform semiconductor engineering research, design, development, and/or testing for firm products and/or devices for use in the electronic communication industry.
  • Design and implement features for a compiler back end targeting the Samsung GPU architecture from OpenGL-ES and OpenCL applications.
  • Develop GPU IP from the early Architectural planning process until production and shipping millions of devices to consumers.
  • Be a domain expert in one or more compiler project areas and gain knowledge and competencies for developing new features and debugging any customer issues related to your domain.
  • Mentor junior engineers and interns, and work with other departments for cross-team initiatives.
  • Use advanced-level software development in C/C++/Python.
  • Apply best practices using git, gerrit (code reviews), continuous integration.
  • Debug compiler failures and performance issues using code and graphics debugging tools.
  • Provide senior level documentation and communication using common project management tools (JIRA, Confluence, Wiki, Chat, Email).
  • Research new compiler optimizations particular to graphics for future GPU enhancements.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of Linux, and Android Operating systems for coding environment and target device development.
  • May work from home on a hybrid schedule within commutable distance of Austin and surrounding areas.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or in a closely related or equivalent field plus two (2) years of experience in a related occupation performing each of the following: software engineering; C/C++ programming; Object-oriented and component-based design

Alternate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or in a closely related or equivalent field plus five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a related occupation performing each of the following: software engineering; C/C++ programming; and object-oriented and component-based design.

Total Rewards
At Samsung – SARC/ACL, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $155,752.48. - $226,600.00. Your actual base pay will depend on variables that may include your education skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. This is an exempt position, which is not eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
