H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm in Melville, NY seeks a talented and ambitious Staff Landscape Architect to join our team. This is a full-time in-office position where you will be collaborating with in-house professional landscape architects, civil engineers, architects and other disciplines. H2M's Landscape Architects are committed to enhancing outdoor spaces for several markets including, but not limited to, municipalities, public agencies, real estate, education and public safety. Our landscape portfolio includes the conceptual master planning, design and construction of streetscapes, transit-oriented developments (TOD’s), and site/civil and landscape design of athletic facilities, playgrounds and public parks. We are looking for candidates to grow professionally with our team by contributing to the design and production of a variety of projects. Job Responsibilities: Assist in conducting site investigations, inventory and analysis Prepare base maps, site plans, specifications Prepare concept documents, sourcing design precedents, and graphic layout Prepare 3D study models and rendering exhibits Produce final color renderings and illustrations Coordinate and prepare conceptual designs and schematic plans Attend and participate in H2M team meetings, as well as external meeting/discussions with clients, engineers and architects to understand project scope and requirements. Interpret local zoning codes, municipal landscaping requirements and perform due diligence Prepare, produce, and coordinate construction and contract documents Assist in helping with landscape planting plans Assist in the development of landscape architectural details Education & Qualifications: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university program required. 0-3 years relevant landscape arch experience, preferable in a consulting firm. Working knowledge of site planning and grading and drainage Graphic sensibility producing illustrative plans, diagrams, and perspective / 3D renderings Knowledge of ecological principles of landscape architecture and current sustainable practice Excellent design skills with ability to translate concepts into feasible designs General Knowledgeable of and experience with construction methodologies and implementation. (Field experience a plus, but not necessary) Knowledge of local plant material and construction methods highly desirable. Proficiency with computer applications to create plans as well as photo realistic renderings, simulation and 3D modeling: AutoCAD, LandFX, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), SketchUp, Bluebeam Revu Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of Rhino or any other landscape program a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong work ethic with attention to detail, organization and time management skills. Please include portfolio of work samples if applicable The salary range for this role is $64,000 - $75,000 annually. The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography and/or related certifications – not related to any applicant’s characteristics protected by local, state or federal law.
