About the Position The Staff-Led Troop Facilitator supports Girl Scouts of Western Washington’s mission by leading Girl Scout troops in partnership with local school districts and community organizations throughout our Council-region. This role is focused on planning and delivering high-quality programming to youth in historically underserved communities, expanding access and engagement in opportunities that build courage, confidence, and character. We are currently recruiting for roles that will be based in the Auburn and Tacoma School Districts. This is a temporary, part-time (up to 19 hours per week), non-exempt role. Work is conducted on-site in either Auburn or Tacoma, so residency within the GSWW Council region of Western Washington within reasonable proximity to the assigned communities served is required. This position will start at $21.30 per hour for purposes of internal pay equity. This is a non-benefitted position, with the exception of those required by law. Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities With council guidance and support, plan and lead school or community partner based troop meetings. Provide youth and volunteer outreach in assigned community to increase Girl Scout awareness and participation for members and volunteers. Plan and coordinate troop activities, badge work, and outings based on interests of students participating in Girl Scouts afterschool program. Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and empowering environment for all troop members. Communicate with caregivers and maintain regular updates on troop plans. Follow Girl Scouts safety and program guidelines. This is a general description of the essential responsibilities of the position and is not inclusive of all job duties; other associated duties may be assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of and commitment to fostering a work environment that prioritizes diversity, equity, inclusion, racial justice, and belonging. Strong alignment with Girl Scouts of Western Washington’s mission and vision. Ability to lead a room of youth through pre-determined programming. Ability to work with multiple on-site stakeholders and school contacts professionally and respectfully. Well organized with excellent time management skills. High level of interpersonal communication. Ability to lead troop opportunities in the afterschool timeframe – typically between 2:30 – 6:00 pm. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and Experience Required Must be 18 years of age by employment start date. High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working with youth. Preferred Skills and Experience Experience in childcare and/or teaching. Experience recruiting and/or leading volunteers. Experience and comfort with public speaking. Experience with nonprofit/community engagement and/or outreach. Experience working within diverse communities and diverse age groups. Multilingual skills a plus. Other Qualifications Must reside within Washington State, with preference of residence within our Council region of Western Washington. Valid Washington State driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, proof of insurance and the ability to fulfill travel requirements across widespread regional geography as necessary. Satisfactory results from criminal background search. Willingness to maintain Girl Scout membership. Must be willing and able to come into a Girl Scouts of Western Washington office or alternative worksite as needed or when requested.
