Are you looking for a challenging and customer focused environment with the opportunity for on-going learning and development? The Division of Recycling at CalRecycle is seeking an energetic and detail oriented Unit Supervisor to lead a team of four analysts. As the leader of the Technical Assistance and Review team, the incumbent will work with staff and program participants to ensure compliance with the Beverage Container Recycling Program Act and regulations. To be successful in this position, the Unit Supervisor will need to work cohesively with a team, be consistent in communication regarding work products and providing feedback to team members, communicate effectively with individuals from varied experiences, perspectives and backgrounds and demonstrate attention to detail and excellent written communication skills.
The Unit Supervisor will work in conjunction with the TAR Unit - Cerritos, Supervisor to ensure staff assesses the readiness of potential recycling centers and processors for success in the Beverage Container Recycling Program.
Incumbent must have and maintain a valid California driver’s license and be able to travel via various means of public transportation methods, including, but not limited to commercial airlines, public shuttles, shared rental cars, etc. Incumbent must participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Employer Pull Notice Program. Travel may be required up to 25% per year. Whenever possible, employees are able to determine their travel schedule as long as mandated deadlines are met.
Individuals with relevant experience are encouraged to apply, but please note that CalRecycle is more than happy to train motivated individuals with an interest in learning the full range of the supervisory duties. The classification for this position is Staff Management Auditor.
This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense. Beginning July 1, 2025 all employees are expected to work in office four days a week.
