Description:

An exciting opportunity to work within the Endoscopy unit at St Richards Hospital.
The post holder will be required to provide a high standard of patient care and service within the Endoscopy Unit across the Trust.
The post holder is expected to be an effective member of the Endoscopy Team- responsible for assessing, admitting, assisting in procedures, recovery, infusions and discharging of patients.
The post holder is required to work as part of the Team committed in delivering and improving high standard of Endoscopy Care within the Trust.
We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.
Telephone & face to face Pre Assessment
Working in All Endoscopy procedure rooms with support & training if required. Including all aspects of role within the room
Discharge patients, Provide Anti-coagulation & Diabetic advice to Patients Pre procedure
Recoveries both Male & Female
Medication administration/ Infusion upon completion of training & support if required
Admissions (can be for more than one room)
Undertaking lists in all areas of the Hospital
Moving to another area if the need of the Trust requires this
Working over allocated time if the patient is compromised and cannot be discharged or moved to another area.

Communication
To work as part of the Team to ensure that patients received the high standards of care.
To communicate effectively with all the members of the Multidisciplinary team
Participate in staff meetings
Observe proper telephone courtesy, communicate messages or queries in a prompt manner & to the correct practitioner/person.
Ensure that all patients are treated with respect and empathy.
Provide them with support and be the patients’ advocate throughout their stay in the department.
Service Delivery and Improvement
To accept delegated responsibility for specific activities/areas from the Senior Nurse in Charge, recognising and working within the limits of your competence.
To assist Consultants and Nurse Endoscopists in Outpatients and Inpatients Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopy Procedures
Help in facilitating students, new members of staff to develop their competence through supervision, teaching and role modelling.
To provide high quality of care to the patients in line with the Trust values and in accordance with Professional regulations
People Management and Development
The post holder is required to complete an appraisal process and works towards meeting the identified development needs.
The post holder is expected to document properly on the Endoscopy Care Pathway, Bluespier and Careflow.
To achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescale.
Teach and facilitate learning for all Nursing students and in liaison with the University, and for Health Care assistant Program.
Patient Care Delivery
Assist in the manoeuvring and positioning of patients and equipment in the theatre Rooms and Recovery.
Ensure patients safety, comfort, privacy and dignity is the key in provision of Nursing Care and Clinical practice of all staff.
Demonstrate good understanding of the Endoscopy procedure and the consent process. Ensure that a valid consent is obtained prior to any Endoscopy Procedures.
Identify patients’ individual dependency care needs and provide support for physical, psychological, and social requirements.
Provide patients’ emergency care in all areas of the Endoscopy department.
Ensure that any safeguarding issues are raised appropriately to lead Nurses to enable investigation in relation to vulnerable adults or children.
To maintain clear documentation regarding patients treatments, care and future plans of care.
Rapid assessment and early identification of serious illness/ injury and initiation of urgent treatment.
Ensure that the Clinical Environment reflects a high standard of cleanliness, be proactive in response to any issues raised in cleaning audits or patients environment inspections.
Recognize own limitation and work only within the scope of professional practice and competence.
Contribute to the collection and proper labelling of all types of specimens in line with Trust protocols and Procedures.
Work in an effective and organized manner demonstrating excellent time management and organizational skills to effectively deliver person- centred care
Report and share information regarding the patient’s condition, behaviour and responses pre/during/post Endoscopy procedures
