WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Diploma / Degree in adult general nursing
  • Experience in spinal cord injury and neurological rehabilitation is desirable
  • Experience caring for patients with tracheostomy is desirable
  • Trained in Phlebotomy & Cannulation
  • Trained in wound assessment
  • Trained in administering medications, including IV
  • Trained in basic observations / ECGs
  • An understanding of perioperative patient care
  • Knowledge of the deteriorating patient
  • Practical knowledge of safeguarding within a healthcare setting
  • Ability to demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely
  • Tact and diplomacy

Responsibilities

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To act with the upmost professionalism and to adhere to the NMC code of conduct
  • Monitor and assist in the delivery of patient-centred care, ensuring that such care is delivered in line with the patient’s individual care plans which reflect their current needs and rehabilitation goals
  • Ensuring that the personal needs of the patients are met in a way that respects their dignity and promotes independence, reflecting the high quality care and best possible patient outcomes we are known for
  • Encourage, develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self
  • Promote best evidence-based practice
  • Apply and comply with legislation, policies and procedures

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Provide exceptional nursing care to both our inpatients and outpatients
  • Be involved in the daily handovers to communicate all aspects of care and needs
  • To demonstrate excellent communication skills within all nursing care
  • To assess and plan nursing daily care
  • Provide pre- and post-operation care
  • Monitor and administer medication and intravenous infusions
  • Take patient samples, pulses, temperatures and blood pressures
  • To supervise junior staff and tutor student nurses
  • Organise and prioritise workloads
  • Provide emotional support to patients and relatives
  • To efficiently and accurately complete all written documentation and record keeping
  • Be a role model to other staff on all departmental and hospital-wide matters
  • Ensure the working environment is as safe as possible and complies with company, professional, legal requirements and guidelines
