Responsibilities

Take responsibility for care provided and answer for judgements and actions made

  • Adhere to the NMC “The Code” (2015) and ensure requirement of revalidation are met
  • Work within the scope of own professional competence, refer and seek support, as required
  • Adhere to nurse responsibilities and comply with RQIA regulations and outcomes (where appropriate) to meet quality standards and outcomes
  • Observe the NMC legal and professional requirements in relation to accountability and delegation
  • Monitor the quality of work within the designated responsibility and alert others to quality issues
  • Adhere to the legal and professional issues in relation to consent and capacity (adults and children)
  • Recognise signs and symptoms which may indicate the presence of serious medical conditions and take appropriate action
  • Keep own knowledge and skills updated, including research, changes inn legislation, regulation and practice standards to provide expert information and guidance
  • Obtain Feedback and Reflect on own performance and level of skills in line with NMC Revalidation requirements to identify strengths and areas for development
  • Ensure that all treatments are carried out as prescribed and in line with best practice, as detailed in Royal Marsden manual of Clinical Nursing Procedures and to comply with all Policies as set out in the Policies and Procedures system
  • Ensure a qualified nurse is on the premises, at all times, remaining on duty, if necessary, until cover can be arranged
  • Co-operate with all investigations and audits
  • To work within the company’s GDPR / Information Governance policies in order maintain security of personal and sensitive data
