Description:

We are seeking motivated nurses, with a passion for excellence within the delivery of patient care to join our Gastroenterology team on Ward 3D.
As a Staff Member on Ward 3D you will have opportunities to care for a range of patients, with conditions such as; GI bleeds, Elective & Emergency Endoscopy procedures, Palliative care patients, Alcohol dependency, Eating disorders, and Oesophageal and Liver disorders.
As the speciality of Gastroenterology continues to expand, we now provide true 7 day working supported by our Multidisciplinary team of Health Care Assistants, Nurses, 8 Consultants and Nurse Specialists. Both wards work closely with one another to ensure our teams are fully supported.
If you have any experience in working within an environment treating patients with multiplex needs , then we would love for you to apply, although if not please be assured that our staff are fully supported through your induction to ensure each member of the team is adequately equipped and confident to deal with our busy ward environment.
The post holders will be expected to deliver care of the highest standard and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. The ability to work as part of a team is essential. The Successful candidate will be expected to rotate to both days and nights is to be flexible in their approach to caring for a group of patients.
An Enhanced DBS with barred lists for both Adults & Children is required for this post.
To be responsible in association with the team leader for the formulation and implementation of individual patient care plans.
To participate in the holistic assessment of patients, and to formulate and review individual patient care plans and to act as ‘named nurse’ or associate for a group of patients from admission to discharge as determined by the Ward Manager.
To commence and participate in research/special projects as directed by the ward manager.
To contribute to the setting, maintaining and monitoring of standards of care within the ward.
Help to ensure that all equipment is in safe working order in conjunction with the department equipment controller.
Internal rotation on to night duty and twilight shifts are required.
To assist in the promotion of effective communication with all ward staff and other departments as required.
Promote the safeguarding of vulnerable patients in line with national and local policy.

CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain appropriate NMC registration.
To be aware of and practice professionally in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and The Scope of Professional Practice.
To personally ensure fulfilment of the requirements for professional updating and to maintain a personal record for the future registration purposes.
Ensure that nursing care is appropriate, provided and is consistent with clinical guidelines.
Implement and evaluate programmes of care to meet needs of patients and undertake all forms of care within the clinical environment.
In accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008, the post holder will actively participate in the prevention and control of infection within the capacity of their role. The Act requires the post holder to attend infection prevention and control training on induction and at regular updates and to take responsibility for the practical application of the training in the course of their work. Infection prevention and control must be included in any personal development plan and/or appraisal.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure patient records are kept up to date and accurate and recording is done in line with Trust policies and procedures.

TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES

To participate in the teaching of students and the in-service training of qualified nurses and health care assistants and act as facilitator/mentor/preceptor as appropriate.

LINE MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise Health Care Assistants as and when required
Supervise Junior Staff Nurses once deemed sufficiently competent and experienced in role by Ward Manager
