Description

Staff Nurse (Band 5) – Medical Oncology Unit
Location: The Wellington Hospital, St Johns Wood, London
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits
Are you a compassionate and motivated nurse ready to take the next step in your career? Whether you’re an experienced oncology nurse or come from an acute medical background, we’d love to hear from you.
We are looking for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Medical Oncology Unit at The Wellington Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK.
Our hospital is rated “Good” by the CQC and proudly holds the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark Award, recognising our commitment to excellence in cancer care. The Medical Oncology Unit is a purpose-built, specialist service comprising 17 inpatient oncology beds and 2 neuroendocrine suites, focused on delivering individualised, high-quality cancer treatment and support.
In this role, you’ll join a dynamic, patient-focused nursing team providing specialist oncology care. We pride ourselves on our nurse-led environment, with a typical 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, enabling you to provide truly attentive and individualised care.
We understand that not everyone comes with oncology experience — that’s why we offer comprehensive training and full support to obtain your SACT (Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy) qualification, including protected time for learning and mentorship from our experienced chemotherapy-trained nurses.
This is a fantastic opportunity to build a specialist career in oncology nursing while working in a supportive and progressive clinical environment with access to advanced treatments often not available on the NHS.

Responsibilities

What you’ll bring:

  • Current NMC Nurse registration
  • Oncology nursing experience is desirable, but not essential
  • We welcome applications from nurses with a minimum of 2 years’ post-registration experience in an acute medical setting
  • You do not need to be SACT-trained – we will provide all necessary training to support you in becoming a qualified chemotherapy giver
  • NHS or Private Hospital experience (essential)
