We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
Renal services are seeking to recruit band 5 nurses to join ward 4C renal surgery at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The ward shift pattern is long days and night shift rotation. Part time hours will be considered.
Applications are invited from Registered General Nurses who are active on the NMC Register to join our enthusiastic and innovative team as a Staff Nurse.
Ward 4C is a friendly 15 bedded kidney transplant and renal surgical ward and is home to the West of Scotland Kidney Transplant Unit. The unit runs a very busy live donor transplant programme and also receives kidney offers from NHS ODT, along with kidney transplantation the ward also holds the reputation as the centre of excellence for renal dialysis vascular access creation, therefore providing care to a specialised renal patient group.
Along with the renal transplant and surgical ward, the QEUH renal services has a further 50 inpatient beds, Ward 4A - offers 8 high acuity beds and 12 general nephrology beds. 4D - is our general nephrology ward. The Renal Assessment Unit (RAU) is also homed within 4C with both teams’ working closely together to ensure seemless patient care.
These posts will allow successful candidates to gain experience in all aspects of Kidney transplantation, renal vascular access cannulation procedures and complications and to also undertake the necessary training to become competent in haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments. New starts to the service are supported to undertake our local comprehensive renal education and competency training package supported by our renal educators.
The successful candidate should possess the ability to work to high clinical standards and should be flexible, forward thinking and able to work effectively within a changing environment and willing to undertake the necessary specialised renal nursing training in order to gain knowledge and understanding of renal nursing including the ability to safely perform the technical aspects of the role.
As well as having current NMC registration it is also essential you have basic IT skills, good communication skills and enthusiasm for working with the Renal nursing field.
As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. This post also requires PVG scheme membership/disclosure Scotland check.
