Description:
We’re looking for a Staff Nurse with a passion for making a real difference to Older people experiencing mental health issues.

Cherwell Ward is a 17 bedded Female Older Adult Mental Health Inpatient ward. We specialise in the care and treatment of female older adult experiencing mental ill health.
The Older Adult Mental Health wards provide acute psychiatric Inpatient assessment and treatment of Older people within Oxfordshire with either a functional and/or organic illness for both male and female older adults within the Fulbrook Centre.
Successful applicants should have strong skills regarding physical co-morbidities and the management of our patients physical health co-morbidities or the passion and drive to learn about how to support our patients to manage them.
As a Mental Health Nurse, you’ll be responsible for the co-ordination and management of the ward for a span of duty, as well as being responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care in co-production with patients and carers.
In addition, you’ll develop effective risk management plans, using the risk formulation framework and timely review of the risk management plan identifying opportunities for positive risk taking in conjunction with the client, carers/significant others and the ward team.
You must have excellent communication skills, be reliable, punctual and work well in a team, whilst being adaptable to changing situations.
You will need to be able to work calmly and efficiently within a busy and intensive environment dealing with unpredictable situations whilst remaining focused on providing a person-centred and recovery approach to care and treatment.
Our ward team consists of Nurses, Registered Nurse Associates, Consultant Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapist, Physio Therapists, Psychology and an Activity Coordinator. With support when needed from Speech and Language therapy, Dietician and a Neurologist.

A qualified RMN with passion and drive for developing your clinical skills in a changeable environment
Be self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing initiative and promoting new ideas on how to improve the service. Supporting and supervising Registered Nurse associates and Health care Assistants.
