Our teams use a multidisciplinary approach to care, providing a range of nursing, medical, therapies and psychological input.
We are looking for applicants who are able to work creatively and effectively in a busy and demanding role. The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate progressive skills in leadership, supervision, clinical practice, service development, risk assessment and care management. You must be committed to the trust values of compassion, respect, empowerment and partnership. The applicant should have a clear understanding of the importance of rehabilitation and interested in working with patients with severe and enduring mental health problems to develop their life skills, improve their independence and support them during their journey to recovery. You should have good communication skills and committed to providing person centred care with a sound knowledge of best practice. If you are such a nurse, it is you that we are looking for and would like you to apply for the post.
In return we will provide a supportive and progressive environment for you to develop your clinical skills and knowledge through regular and structured supervision and training and development opportunities.

Band 5 nurses work in partnership with the people who use our services, their families, friends and carers and play an important contribution in how people experience their care and relate to other people. Band 5 nurses are expected to be compassionate, responsive and approachable but professional and informative and contribute to the quality of the service provided to the people in our care:

  • keeping the people who use our services as safe as possible through the use of sound clinical skills and effective risk assessments;
  • ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence-based policies and procedures;
  • empowering people through working in partnership throughout their care and treatment in the service.
  • Supporting the development of junior staff and improved care delivery through effective supervision and the use of reflective practice

Central and North West London NHS Trust expects all Band 5 nurses to act in a way which shows you understand our core values and are willing to put them into practice with service users, their friend’s family and carers and also other staff members.
As a Band 5 nurse we expect you to show COMPASSION, contribute to a caring and kind environment and recognise that what you do and say helps can make the lives of others better
We expect you to RESPECT everyone and acknowledge and welcome people’s differences rather than ignore them or see them as problematic.
We expect you to EMPOWER others and continually try to provide information, resources and support to help others make their own decisions and meet their own needs.
We expect you to work in PARTNERSHIP and behave in a way that shows that you recognise that commissioners and users of our services are the people who generate and pay for our work.
You will be a current RMN or soon-to-be qualified RMN
You will possess sound clinical risk assessment and management skills
Good knowledge of the Mental Health Act (1983), CPA and NMC code of conduct.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both as part of a team and on their own initiative and respond creatively to service provision and service user needs
Maintaining accurate, legible, comprehensive records
Safeguarding people by recognising and responding when an adult or child might be at risk from abuse but also recognising their own limits and asking for help and escalate concerns when necessary
Escalating safety concerns and by doing so acting as effective advocates for those who use our services
