Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Staff or Sr. Staff Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Scientist in our Anchorage, Alaska office, as part of our environmental site investigation and due diligence practice. The position will focus on environmental compliance for our Alaska clients and also support our site investigation and due diligence practice in the Northwest (Oregon, Washington, Idaho).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting projects involving due diligence with substantial historical research including ASTM-compliant Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments;
  • Supporting environmental compliance services, such as compliance audits and reviews (multi-media);
  • Supporting site characterization and remediation projects;
  • Fieldwork such as soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, geophysical investigations, and remediation system O&M;
  • Developing compliance documents and permit applications associated with the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA);
  • Developing task, project, and client management skills;
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.

Education and Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, chemistry, biology, or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of related regulatory, industry, or environmental consulting experience. (preferred)
  • Prior research experience in environmental contamination and remediation. (preferred)
  • Occasional field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and associated on-the-job training will be provided.
