JOB SUMMARY

This is a physician position and is responsible for applying medical knowledge and skills to the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of illnesses for patients within the Heart and Vascular – non-invasive Cardiovascular Medicine specialty at CCAD. This position treats patients directly and/or may make referrals to different members of the health care professional team at CCAD.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Physicians from Tier 1 countries, not less than two (2) years additional experience post qualification
  • Must hold a valid License/ Registration to practice in their home country and/or country of last employment (where applicable)
  • Should meet the Maintenance of Certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a team of health care professionals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff
  • Ability to speak and write in English is required.
  • Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

MD, MBBS, MBChB (only if the specialization is obtained from one of the following: American Board of Medical Specialties or Certificates of Specializations of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada) or qualification from an accredited Institution and completion of specialty qualification as per the Recognized Specialty Certificate table listed in Department of Health Professionals Qualification Requirements 2022

Responsibilities
  • Monitors and provides care to patients at CCAD within the Heart and Vascular – Cardiovascular Medicine specialty.
  • Provide care to patients on primary inpatient cardiology service on a rotating schedule among 6 consultants.
  • Provide care for patients on a consultative service a few weeks a year.
  • Interpret noninvasive cardiac studies, including transthoracic echocardiography, stress tests, stress echocardiography, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
  • Perform and interpret transesophageal echocardiography.
  • Provide outpatient care to patients in cardiology clinic.
  • Supervise and teach cardiology fellows, medicine residents, and medical students rotating on cardiac services.
  • Prescribes or administers medication, therapy and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease or injury.
  • Supplies and provides care in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner.
  • Follows ethical and regulatory guidelines.
  • Takes part in administrative functions that ensure the continued operations of the clinical environment, such as committees, task forces and performance improvement measures.
  • Adheres to individual approved clinical privileges, as well as to all policies and procedures of the Medical Staff.
