Description

Stream is seeking a highly experienced Principal Product Designer to lead the development of best-in-class SDKs. In this critical role, you will be responsible for shaping the developer experience for our Activity Feeds, Chat, and Video APIs, which are integrated into thousands of applications worldwide. This is a unique opportunity to significantly influence how developers build with these core components and to make a lasting impact on the industry.
Location: We have vibrant offices in Amsterdam and Boulder, and welcome candidates in either location. We also support remote work (with a preference for EU or US time zones) for exceptional candidates. Periodic travel between offices for team collaboration is encouraged.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON

We’re looking for an experienced Staff Product Designer to own and elevate the design of everything we build at Stream. In this role, you will drive the end-to-end design strategy and execution for our core products – from our chat and voice SDKs to our customer dashboard, moderation tools, and public-facing website. You’ll sit at the intersection of product design and developer experience, ensuring that both app developers and end-users enjoy a world-class, intuitive experience.
This role offers significant autonomy and impact: you’ll be shaping the UX of tools used by a global developer community and some of the most exciting apps on the market.

Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead end-to-end design for new features and improvements – from user research and ideation through prototyping, visual/UI design, and iterative refinement.

  • Design the UX of Stream’s core products, including our in-app chat and voice/video SDKs, moderation interfaces, and customer dashboard.

  • Collaborate closely with engineers and product managers to ship SDK features, dashboards, onboarding flows, and other customer-facing improvements.

  • Shape the public-facing website and docs to ensure consistency and great UX across all touchpoints.

  • Craft clear UX copy and microcopy that guides and empowers users.

  • Drive innovation and excellence in design: establish best practices and maintain a world-class design system.

  • Mentor and collaborate with other designers to foster a high-performance, user-focused design culture.

WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE EXCITING?

  • Direct impact in shaping the future of developer tools used by companies building with Stream
  • Small (6 people), high-trust team with fewer roadblocks, tremendous autonomy and a chance to see your ideas make a material impact on the growth of the business
  • You’ll solve meaningful problems for a technical audience that values elegant solutions
  • You’ll get access to the tools you need to be successful
  • Travel to Boulder for regular collaboration
