Join us in shaping the future of vascular health. We are currently seeking a Staff R&D Engineer to join our team of passionate innovators and engineers. The Staff R&D Engineer supports and leads project teams in the development of medical device products - this includes writing or verifying specifications, developing testing and product processes, and designing fixtures to ensure the concepts and/or prototypes meet requirements. This person actively participates in cross-functional product strategy development and in broader initiatives within the R&D organization. What You Will Do Key Responsibilities: Independently research, design, develop, and verify complex mechanical and electro-mechanical components for next-generation vascular thrombectomy platforms. Lead system integration efforts, combining mechanical, electrical, and firmware elements into cohesive, high-performance architectures. Prototype, test, and refine assemblies involving sensors, actuators, pumps, and PCBs, using data-driven analysis to optimize system performance. Develop and validate automated test systems, control algorithms, and data acquisition tools to ensure reliable system characterization and verification. Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Clinical teams to ensure design excellence and project success. Apply advanced knowledge of clinical procedures and customer needs to translate insights into design inputs and high-value product solutions. Ensure compliance with design controls, risk management, and industry standards while mentoring peers in best engineering practices. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and technologies throughout the product development lifecycle. What you need Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline 4+ years of work experience Demonstrated mechanical engineering problem-solving skills Experience with 3D CAD modeling (Solidworks Preferred) Experience programming with Labview/Python. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in creating engineering drawings, models, applying GD&T, and CAE tools to optimize the design Adept at applying knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to product design $87,600 - $186,700 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. These roles could have travel expectations, and you must work within the country of the job requisition location. Field-based – You can expect to regularly work a majority to 100% of time at customer facilities and has a set territory or expectation to travel within a set boundary. Almost all sales roles would likely be qualified as field-based. Onsite – Role is 100% located at a Stryker facility. Some ad hoc flexibility may be available depending on role, level, and job requirements. Manufacturing roles and any role that requires physical presence at the office would qualify under this category. Hybrid – You can expect to regularly work in both an alternate workplace and a Stryker facility. Roles that are partially remote or co-located would qualify as hybrid, and the expectation to be onsite would be defined and agreed upon by your manager/supervisor.
