Description

The National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) is the national tertiary referral centre for the treatment of neurological diseases. It is also a centre of excellence for education and research. The medical care is complemented with state-of-the-art medical equipment and imaging technology, and the only one in Singapore with dedicated and integrated departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neuroradiology. The NNI is the major provider of clinical neuroscience services to the public healthcare system.
Staff Registrar is a non-specialist doctor. You will render holistic medical care and management of patients in the wards, specialist outpatient clinics and/or operating theatres (where applicable). You will perform at a similar level of duties and responsibilities of an experienced Medical Officer or mid-rung specialty trainee. You will carry out duties as directed by the Head of Department in accordance with the policies and guidelines set by NNI, SingHealth and Ministry of Health.

REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have an M.B.B.S. or equivalent basic medical degree.
  • You must have a post graduate qualification that is recognised by the Singapore Medical Council.
  • At least 3 years’ post-housemanship experience as a medical officer (or equivalent) in Neurosurgery or possess a postgraduate medicalcqualification in Neurosurgery.
  • At least 3 years’ activecclinical practice in the relevant specialty
  • Fulfill the English Language requirements of SMC

Education

  • To attend and participate in conferences, seminars, department meetings, teaching sessions, audit sessions and learning rounds.To keep abreast of advances in treatment and techniques by attending continuous medical education programmes and both local and international events
Responsibilities

Clinical

  • To be responsible for providing timely and appropriate clinical care which is expected based on current level of seniority and experience.
  • To inform and consult the Head of Department at the earliest opportunity where serious or major clinical situations would affect the well-being or lives of the patients/staff or have medico-legal implications. (This will be based on judgement of the specialist in charge)
  • To be contactable and to provide advice and necessary surgical/medical management for patients while on call.To carry out all duties and interact with various stakeholders based on SingHealth core values and SPREE quality priorities
