The Department of Neurology is a clinical, research and academic department within the UC Davis School of Medicine. This position is located at the UC Davis Imaging of Dementia and Aging (IDEA) Laboratory in Davis, California. This laboratory currently supports research activities through 19 NIH or DOD funded projects totaling over 30 million dollars. The focus of the laboratory is mathematical modeling of human brain imaging that includes magnetic resonance (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) image data.
The laboratory in addition, supervises the acquisition of these images done at the UC Davis Medical Center, in Sacramento, California, via the UC Davis Alzheimer’s Disease Center. The structure of the IDEA lab includes 4 full-time PhD researchers, 4 IT specialists, 4 image analysts and one lab manager. There are three sections in the laboratory: 1) Research/Computer modeling, 2) Image Analysis and 3) Data Management. This is a highly technically skilled laboratory on par with many basic science programs, but with a human, mathematical and computing emphasis. This position will assist the lab manager in the day-to-day activities of the lab, which will require working closely with all three sections of the lab which are stated above.
