Description

Under general supervision, the SRA III will lead laboratory experiments involving chemical and biological assays, in vitro and in vivo testing of radiopharmaceuticals for both diagnostics and therapeutics, work with radioactivity and animals. The incumbent is expected to work independently while applying good judgment and experience to analyze and develop solutions to problems as they arise. The SRA will perform the duties below:

Lab work:

  • Independently perform chemical and biological assays for testing molecular imaging agents and therapeutics.
  • Independently perform animal studies for in vivo evaluation of molecular imaging agents and therapeutics.
  • Develop, as needed, new chemical and biological assays for testing molecular imaging agents and therapeutics.

Administrative work:

  • Apply for IACUC and BUA approval and maintenance of IACUC and BUA applications with the help of the PI.
  • Manage the laboratory (keep track of supplies and order what is needed), keep lab in compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - FOR FULL CONSIDERATION, APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO UPLOAD LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATION IF REQUIRED OF THE POSITION

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of experience and education required
  • At least one-year extensive experience working with cellular and biochemical assays such as ELISA, flow cytometry, radioimmunoassay, proliferation, and viability assays.
  • Extensive experience with animal handling, dissection, and aseptic techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience operating equipment including gamma counters, balances, microscopes, flow cytometers, electrophoresis apparatus and nanodrop.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of biology and molecular imaging.
  • Demonstrated knowledge to train and guide personnel of varying skill levels including postdocs, Jr. Specialists, research staff, graduate, and undergraduate students.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and interpret scientific data.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory practice, and applicable procedures and safety codes, EH&S regulations, and guidelines, including AALAC and NIH guidelines for animal care and safety.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience working with radioisotopes including positron, alpha and beta emitters.
  • Experience with radioactive and chemical waste and management.
