Description

The primary responsibility of the Staff Research Associate (SRA I) is to assist in the identification of appropriate cases for sequencing, following required documentation and protocols as needed, obtain samples and be responsible for quality control and extraction of DNA/RNA from these samples. Samples are often very small, so the individual needs to be familiar with procedures for working with small samples.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $31.04 (Hourly Rate).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge/experience in large animal experimental studies: monitoring anesthesia, IV catheter insertion
  • Computer proficiency, experience with Excel, and database management proficiency
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Diligent attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge/experience in basic laboratory techniques: preparation of buffers, serial dilutions, chemical weighing and handling
  • Knowledge of pre and post-operative care of large animals

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with database and statistical software
