Description

Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced remote centered environment with variety in your work? The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Staff Services Manager III with experience leading projects and teams to produce data-driven reports and analyses.
If this is you, then CDI may be the employer for you!Under the general direction of the Senior Deputy Insurance Commissioner within the Climate and Sustainability (C&S) Branch of the California Department of Insurance (CDI), the Staff Services Manager (SSM) III serves as the Data Analytics and Reporting (DAR) Division Chief, and is responsible for formulating and administering the Data Analytics and Reporting Division policies, building long-term strategy on ongoing and emerging data projects, and overseeing the daily activities of the division. The SSM III provides a high level of assistance and expertise to the Senior Deputy Insurance Commissioner in reaching organizational goals for the C&S Branch and in support of the department’s mission. The SSM III has full managerial responsibility for planning, developing, organizing, directing and evaluating the work of subordinate staff; developing and implementing data collection systems and research and analysis strategies for policy issues; setting goals and plans for insurance related studies; providing support and policy advice with departmental and statewide impact to the Commissioner and Executive staff.
This position is designated under the Conflict-of-Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict-of-Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

Working Conditions

  • The incumbent must be able to work in a high rise building.
  • Some travel is required within and/or outside the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, airplane, etc.). Travel may include overnight stay.
  • The incumbent may telework in accordance with CDI’s Telework Policy. Teleworking employees may be required to report to their headquarters office location on designated telework days. Travel expenses are not reimbursed, however other authorized transit subsidies do exist for those who qualify.
