About the role About the role Join AGL’s Digital Onyx team, responsible for customer identity and authentication experiences, including AUTH0 login flows. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will act as a senior technical leader—designing and delivering scalable digital solutions while mentoring engineers and shaping best practice across the team. This role is key to driving high-quality, customer-focused outcomes across digital platforms, working in a cross-functional agile environment. What you’ll do Lead design, development and delivery of scalable digital solutions across the tech stack Build and optimise microservices and cloud-native architectures (Azure) Design and implement authentication and identity solutions (incl. AUTH0) Develop and deploy RAG pipelines, vector databases, and AI-driven solutions Drive engineering best practice (testing, CI/CD, quality, design patterns) Partner with Product, Architecture, and business stakeholders to solve complex problems Mentor engineers and uplift team capability Champion continuous improvement across technology and ways of working What you’ll bring Strong experience building scalable microservices and cloud-based solutions (Azure preferred) Expertise in modern engineering stacks (C#, .NET, React/Angular, API development) Knowledge of authentication platforms (e.g. AUTH0 or similar) Experience with AI/ML concepts including LLMs, embeddings, vector search, and RAG architectures Strong understanding of testing, CI/CD, and high-quality engineering practices Proven ability to lead technically and mentor others Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills Experience working in agile environments (SAFe highly regarded) Why join AGL Work on customer-facing platforms that impact millions of Australians Be part of a collaborative, cross-functional agile environment Opportunity to shape modern engineering practices and emerging AI capabilities Contribute to meaningful transformation in energy and digital experiences About you You’re a collaborative technical leader who enjoys solving complex problems, lifting those around you, and delivering incremental customer value.
