The mission of the Platform Product Group engineers is to build a trusted, scalable and compliant platform to operate with speed, efficiency and quality. Our teams build and maintain the platforms critical to the existence of Coinbase. There are many teams that make up this group which include Product Foundations (i.e. Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory, Finhub), Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure). We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Risk Platform team at Coinbase. Our team is building scalable, intelligent and resilient systems that enable us to proactively identify, assess and mitigate risks in order to protect our customers’ assets and fight fraudulent activities. It is a critical and strategic part to achieve our goal of becoming the most trusted and easiest to use platform. What you’ll be doing: Architect and develop distributed systems Provide technical structure to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables with your technical expertise Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards Design and implement foundational infrastructure components used by every engineering team in production (e.g. dynamic configuration, secrets storage, container orchestration, etc) Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers What we look for in you: 8+ years of experience in software engineering You’ve experienced architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact You’re passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together Nice to haves: You’ve built financial, high reliability or security systems. You’ve some exposure to online fraud prevention systems or built them in the past. You have gone through a rapid growth in your company (from 10 to 100s of engineers) You have experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices You’ve worked with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres You’ve built financial, high reliability or security systems Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services Job #: GPBE06US *Answers to crypto-related questions may be used to evaluate your onchain experience. #LI-Remote Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual base salary for this position can range as detailed below.
