As a staff Engineer, you utilize advanced technical expertise of engineering principles and practices to achieve business outcomes. You provide core technology and domain expertise to support technical strategy of the crew and lead the solution design of complex challenges. We are the Cloud Modernisation team. We build the platforms that enable the bank to adopt cloud at scale and build applications leveraging cloud native capabilities.

As an experienced Staff Engineer who act as technology leader, responsible for providing technical strategy and guidance, overseeing engineering projects of all kinds includes AWS, Cloud Adoption, Migration Modernisation, end to end application design and understanding at enterprise level and good in domain understanding with passion for providing AI-driven solutions, you’re ahead of trends and work at the forefront of AI.

  • Leader amongst engineers with respected technical views. Lead and direct multiple teams on complex troubleshooting activity. Play a mentoring role in providing design and technical assistance to other members of the team.
  • Utilises an outstanding competency in core business and technical strategies across platforms to deliver best business outcomes.
  • Knowledge Engineering: Identifying and gathering relevant domain specific knowledge from various sources and structuring it in a structured way for LLM model to understand and utilize.
  • Platform engineering: Collaborate with other teams to integrate AI solutions into existing workflows and systems to get the platform running and available. They configure and manage the underlying infrastructure that supports the platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high availability.
  • Analyse systems and applications and provide recommendations for design, enhancement and development, and play an active part in their execution.
  • Excellent understanding of the infrastructure that runs .NET applications – IIS, Web Servers, Kestrel, Containers, etc
  • Have experience in CI/CD pipelines with integrated automated testing and governance
  • Are passionate about DevOps/Automation and have a powerful desire to solve complex problems in a systematic approach - e.g using PowerShell
  • Constantly think creatively and breaking boundaries to solve complex technical problems
  • Work well in teams and have strong collaboration skills in driving continuous improved initiatives
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals and best practices
  • Take ownership of issues and follow through with end-to-end resolution of issues
  • Work with various application teams to ensure the stability and security of the cloud platform

TECH SKILLS

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but having significant experience and exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team

  • Demonstrate strong experience developing applications using MS technologies - C# and .NET / .NetCore
  • Demonstrate strong experience developing applications using Python
  • Demonstrate strong experience in scripting languages such as Powershell or Shell
  • Excellent debugging skills with ability to solve complex technical issues in .NET
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines
  • Hold strong technical coding standards and contribute extensively to code reviews.
  • Lead design discussions in developing robust systems
  • Experience with Infrastructure as code and automating manual tasks
  • Mentoring and coaching capabilities, able to influence practices and mindsets in the crew
  • Develop, lead, and deploy CI/CD strategies
  • CI/CD tooling such as GitHub, TeamCity, Artifactory, Octopus Deploy
  • Logging & monitoring: CloudWatch, AppDynamics, Splunk, Grafana and Prometheus knowledge are desirable
  • Have a fair understanding of networking, preferably on Cloud
