THE STAFF SOFTWARE ENGINEER OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our growing team in Business Technology and help scale our internal business solutions with a sharp focus on security, reliability, and scalability.
You will be responsible for designing and developing customizations, extensions, configurations, and integrations required to meet the company’s strategic business objectives. This role demands strong collaboration with business stakeholders, analysts, and engineers, driving projects from ideation to production.
Reporting to the Manager of Customer Experience, Business Technology, this role provides end-to-end technical services including design, configuration, development, and testing while delivering high-quality and secure Salesforce solutions.

The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $188,000—$282,000 USD
Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$168,000—$252,000 USD

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Design and implement secure, scalable, and sustainable Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and configuration tools with a focus on performance and security.
• Translate complex business requirements into well-architected technical solutions that maximize the Salesforce platform.
• Define architecture and design for large-scale Salesforce implementations and integrations with external systems.
• Mentor and coach other engineers to help them grow their Salesforce expertise.
• Lead project delivery by ensuring high-quality, on-time implementations that follow coding and design best practices.
• Leverage automation and AI-driven tools (Einstein Bots, predictive analytics, insights) to enhance workflows and customer experiences.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance while ensuring scalability and availability.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

• 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience with Apex, Process Automation, and Lightning Web Components.
• 7+ years of software development experience using Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Proven experience designing and leading medium-to-large Salesforce implementations.
• Strong knowledge of Salesforce products such as Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Communities.
• Experience with source control and CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable releases.
• Ability to manage the full delivery lifecycle, from discovery through post-launch support.
• Deep expertise in developing secure Salesforce solutions that safeguard sensitive data.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence technical direction.
