As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and scaling advanced data applications that power analytics and observability solutions. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, delivering high-performance, reliable services that enable clients to derive actionable insights from large-scale datasets. You will collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and engineering teams to design, implement, and maintain critical backend systems while contributing to architectural decisions and best practices. This role emphasizes both technical excellence and leadership in driving complex projects to successful delivery. Accountabilities · Design, implement, and maintain microservices and backend components using modern Java technologies. · Lead the development of major features, coordinating across backend, frontend, and product teams. · Build and maintain state-of-the-art functionality in Apache Druid and related systems. · Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to deliver initiatives on time and at high quality. · Participate in on-call rotations to address production issues and ensure system reliability. · Contribute to architectural decisions, technical best practices, and code reviews. · Support continuous improvement efforts, knowledge sharing, and mentoring within the engineering team. · 5+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable, reliable backend services in Java or similar languages. · Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and cloud providers such as AWS. · Proficiency with relational and/or OLAP databases. · Familiarity with agile methodologies and modern software development practices. · Strong communication and coordination skills to collaborate across teams and with stakeholders. · Bonus points for experience with Apache Druid, streaming technologies (Kafka, Flink), or open source contributions. · Competitive compensation: $165,000 – $220,000 annually, plus eligibility for equity plans. · 100% paid medical, dental, and vision benefits. · Fertility coverage and mental health support. · 401(k) program and dependent care FSA. · Pet insurance and life/AD&D insurance. · Unlimited paid time off and wellness stipend. · Home office equipment reimbursement and pre-tax commuter benefits. · Flexible remote work with supportive, collaborative engineering culture.
