Position Overview:
Alkami is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Technical Lead to help spearhead our Commercial Banking team. We’re looking for dynamic and innovative individuals ready to lead and contribute to computer software systems, playing a pivotal role in the design process from inception to completion. The team mainly utilizes C#/.NET for backend development and Vue.js for frontend with some legacy projects in Ext.js. Strong proficiency in C# is highly desired.
The Technical Lead in the Engineering Department is responsible for leading sprints, the day-to-day activities of the team, mentoring team members and driving the engineering processes and practices within the department. This role requires a blend of strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and effective communication to collaborate with cross-functional teams. The Technical Lead acts as a bridge between team members and management, ensuring that the team’s needs are met and that management is informed of team progress.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Own the end-to-end definition, design, development, delivery and quality for large feature sets, subsystems, or products.
  • Deliver highly scalable, available, and fault-tolerant production applications.
  • A SME (Subject Matter Expert) of the domain area that the team is responsible for.
  • Cross-functional collaboration around complex issues within Engineering, Product & Design
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges that could impact product delivery, timelines or quality
  • Support the team by mentoring team members, lead sprint planning, delegating work and assignments to team members and participate in project planning.
  • Helps cultivate and remain accountable for the technical vision of the team
  • Write clean code and is able to lead code/design reviews
  • Build architecture design, ensure the quality of architecture and design of systems, influence product roadmap, introduce new technologies and take ownership and responsibility over new projects.
  • Participate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding, debugging, testing, release and maintenance.
  • Set up and maintain environment configurations and monitor system health
  • Respond promptly to on-call incidents, including troubleshooting and resolving critical
  • disruptions to ensure minimal downtime
  • Exemplary self-sufficiency by independently managing tasks, problem-solving, and meeting deadlines, while adapting to new challenges without supervision.
  • Champion an API-first approach

Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience in software development, or a related field; or 6 years and an advanced degree
  • Expert programming skills in an object-oriented language such as Java or C# with proven work experience as a full stack developer
  • Deep understanding of threading, concurrency, garbage collection, and experience identifying memory leaks and related issues by evaluating thread dumps.
  • Strong experience with HTML, CSS, and modern Javascript frameworks like Vue, React, Angular
  • Proven experience working at scale in high performance and high throughput systems.
  • Proven experience in leading technical features and projects with experience leading teams to deliver on-time as planned
  • Proven experience in monitoring and supporting production systems, with proficiency in identifying and resolving issues, implementing proactive measures, and measurement tracking
  • Advanced experience optimizing system performance, including the ability to troubleshoot bottlenecks and implement performance improvements
  • Advanced experience in SQL and NoSQL databases such as SQL Server, Postgres, coupled with caching mechanisms. Designing data structures, optimizing, and maintaining systems, as well as effective caching strategies to enhance performance and responsiveness.
  • Deep understanding and practical application of REST API best practices. Proficiency in adhering to standards, ensuring security, scalability, and optimal performance
  • Experience building and deploying applications using Kubernetes
  • Experience and familiarity with mobile native application development or cross platform
  • Experience building high-observable fault-tolerant systems
  • Participate in on call rotation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
