Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join our Mental Health Services Team.
We are looking for a Staff Specialist in Psychiatry! The primary purpose of the role of Staff Specialist in Psychiatry (Collaborative Centre for Cardiometabolic Health in Psychosis (ccCHIP) is to provide high quality clinical, diagnostic and consultative specialty services in the Collaborative Centre for Cardiometabolic Health in Psychosis (ccCHiP) and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement, and administrative activities within the Mental Health Service as required.
The Staff Specialist in ccCHiP will work closely with, and under the guidance of the Director of ccCHiP while functioning as a Clinical Lead of an interdisciplinary team which includes psychiatrists, psychiatry registrars, cardiologists, endocrinologists, exercise physiologists, dietitians, a clinical nurse consultant, and oral health therapists all of whom provide care within a specialised clinic for people with severe and enduring mental illness. They will oversee the collaboration of the psychiatric and medical treatment to improve the physical health care and physical health outcomes for people attending the service.
As one of the first units of this type, the Collaborative Centre for Cardiometabolic Health in Psychosis has a strong program of clinical research including collaborations with external agencies and multiple medical and allied health disciplines, and the Staff Specialist has opportunity to participate in this research program. There will be some day-to-day administrative and managerial responsibilities with possible potential for an appropriate applicant to move towards a higher role within the unit in the future.
The Staff Specialist will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development. Suitably qualified applicants may be eligible for Conjoint or Affiliate appointments through the Central Clinical School in the University of Sydney.
The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
