Staff Technical Marketing Engineer is a critical role for Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) Technical Marketing team, with the ideal candidate being a true force multiplier, blending deep technical expertise with exceptional communication skills.
In this role, you’ll be the bridge between our engineering teams and our audience of developers, architects, and business leaders. You’ll be responsible for taking complex features and turning them into compelling stories, demonstrations, and educational content that resonate with a global audience.

KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Technical Marketing-related:

• 4+ years of technical product marketing, product management, or sales engineering experience for an enterprise IaaS or SaaS company or developer platform.

• Proven track record of marketing to a highly technical audience within large organizations. You must be comfortable working with and marketing to technical buyers within enterprises.
• Demonstrated experience in developing technical marketing content, technical enablement training and tools. (Feel free to share samples of your work ahead of time!)
• Coding & Development: Strong experience with modern development practices and tools. We prefer candidates with hands-on experience with APIs/SDKs, AI and vibe-coding, in languages like Next.js and platforms like Vercel, as well as a strong command of tools such as VSCode, Github and Postman. You should be comfortable building and deploying full-stack applications.
• CIAM Expertise:

• Deep understanding of identity and access management concepts, including authentication, authorization, and user management (identity standards such as OIDC, SAML, and SCIM).

• Direct experience with platforms like Auth0 or other competing CIAM solutions is a significant plus.
• Communication & Storytelling: Proven ability to take complex, technical topics and make them understandable and engaging for a variety of audiences, from junior developers to C-level executives.
• Video Production: Proficiency with video editing software such as Camtasia, Adobe Premiere Pro, and After Effects to produce professional-quality technical content.
• Design & Prototyping: Experience using tools like Figma to create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that effectively communicate product concepts.
• Presentation Skills: Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills. You should be able to write and deliver polished, engaging technical talks to large audiences.
• AI Acumen: Practical experience with AI technologies, both as a user leveraging AI tools for content creation and as a builder integrating AI capabilities into applications.
• Education: A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.

Below is the annual On Target Compensation (OTE) range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual OTE, which is inclusive of base salary and incentive compensation, will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable) and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual OTE range for this position for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$147,000—$221,000 USD
Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual OTE (On Target Earning) range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:$117,000—$175,000 CAD

• Technical Content Creation: Develop and maintain high-quality technical content, including blog posts, tutorials, sample applications, and documentation. You will focus on showing developers, security architects, product managers and IT Admin how to integrate and build with our CIAM platform.
• Storytelling & Demos: Craft compelling narratives around our product capabilities and identity standards. You’ll be the driving force behind live demos and presentations that showcase the power and simplicity of our platform.
• Video Production: Plan, script, record, and edit technical videos, including tutorials, product overviews, and deep-dive sessions.
• Thought Leadership: Represent our company and product at conferences, meetups, and webinars. You’ll be expected to share your vision, inspire others, and foster a community around our platform.
• Prototyping & AI: Use prototyping tools (such as Figma) to quickly visualize new features and user flows. You’ll also explore and demonstrate the practical applications of AI within the CIAM space, both from an end-user and a developer perspective.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product management, engineering, and sales to identify key technical differentiators and translate them into market-facing content.
