Job Details Job Location: Wolf Trap HeadQuarters - Vienna, VA 22182 Position Type: Seasonal Job Category: Program and Production POSITION REPORTS TO: Head of Department, Lighting POSITION MANAGES: Over hire stagehands (infrequently) POSITION LOCATION: 100% onsite Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is hiring a Stage Electrician to join the Electrics Department with a 14-person house staff crew of stagehands at The Filene Center. In this role, the Stage Electrician is an Assistant working alongside an experienced and well-rounded crew of technicians working on stage to support Wolf Trap’s Summer concert series. Wolf Trap Foundation presents over seventy performances throughout the Summer including rock shows, pop, folk, hip-hop, classical, ballet, and Opera. Some events are self-produced while others are multi-truck and bus road shows. Wolf Trap’s season typically spans from May through September. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work as a stage electrician for all Foundation performances/events for the duration of the contracted season. Load in / Load out touring productions. Setup staged productions in coordination with department heads and management teams Perform maintenance duties as needed and as assigned by management or department head. Manage small teams of over-hire stagehands as required by department head. Ensure absolute professionalism in the workplace. Provide support to other departments as needed and directed by management or department head. Ensure that each production is presented at the highest levels of quality. When directed to, provide insight into future capital or maintenance projects. Assist in Lighting networking. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL DEOMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Excellent skills in stage electronics and lighting instruments. The ability to read and implement lighting plots for both house and touring design. Maintain a strong knowledge of lighting products and vendors. Proficiency in networking and backend systems. The ability to program and operate industry-standard lighting desks with a strong focus on Grand MA2 & 3’s. Troubleshooting skills, Bench work proficiency, and general knowledge of all areas of stagecraft are required. A willingness and ability to work well with others in stressful situations. Show situational awareness and conflict resolution. The ability to work within Wolf Trap’s standard SOP while maintaining flexibility to ensure smooth daily operations. REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs on a regular basis. Requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend and reach with arms. Work in hot and humid conditions outdoors, but not necessarily in direct sunlight. Work at heights greater than 5’ while practicing safe working practices. This position operates under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between Wolf Trap Foundation and I.A.T.S.E Local 22, guaranteeing a weekly minimum of 40 hours at straight time and 8 hours of overtime with a base pay of $66.71 per hour. You do not need to be a union member to apply. While all are encouraged to apply, non-union applicants must agree to work under the Collective Bargaining Agreement with I.A.T.S.E Local 22. The position entails a two-season/year probationary period.
