Description

1st Choice Stairlifts is an independent lift retailer that sell, install, and maintain a wide range of lifts that help to make a difference to people’s everyday lives.
Due to expansion and the recent acquisition of another stairlift company we are looking for field based engineers to join our Dorset branch in Ferndown. You must be from a mechanical engineering background with experience in stairlifts, wheelchair lifts, hoists or similar disability industry equipment. However, full training, support and mentoring will be provided.

This job role primarily involves:

  • Installing a wide range of stairlifts, wheelchair lifts and Home Lifts
  • Attending routine and emergency breakdown calls to diagnose and rectify faults aiming for a first time fix
  • Servicing and safety checking lifts in customers homes so they are running optimally and safely
  • Removing lifts when they are no longer required and returning to the workshop
  • Ensuring health and safety is maintained at all times

  • Brilliant at multi-tasking and very flexible with your attitude to work
  • IT literate and good with good attention to detail on literacy and numeracy

  • Able and committed to delivering 5*customer service

Our normal working hours are Monday – Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, but we do require flexibility owing to the nature of our work.
You will also be expected to work on the on call rota, shared between our team of engineers for out of hours emergency breakdowns 24/7, 365 days a year.
Due to the nature of our business an enhanced DBS check is required which the company will pay for. You will also need to hold a full driving licence and will have use of a company van for business purposes.
Full training will be given on the job and through manufacturers training courses which you will be required to attend.
Our products that require installation can weigh up to around 40Kgs so you must be able to lift these weights.
Salary: From £29,000 (negotiable depending on experience) + on call stand-by payment + on call callout payment + discretionary bonus scheme + commission.
