STANDARDIZED TEST PREP TUTOR (ISEE, SAT/ACT, ERB)

Location: Charlotte, NC area (Southpark Area) (in-person only)
Position Type: Contract
Compensation: $40–$75/hour, based on experience and qualifications

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a knowledgeable, engaging, and results-driven Standardized Test Prep Tutor to work with students in the Nashville, TN area, focusing on ISEE, SAT/ACT, and ERB preparation. This is a flexible contract position for in-person tutoring only, ideal for educators or experienced tutors passionate about helping students achieve their academic goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required); advanced degree or teaching certification a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience tutoring or teaching standardized test prep.
  • Strong familiarity with the structure, scoring, and strategy of the ISEE, SAT/ACT, and ERB exams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to various learning styles and academic needs.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel for in-person sessions within the Charlotte NC area, including nearby areas such as Southpark, Ballentyne, Dilworth

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience supporting students with learning differences or executive functioning challenges.
  • Familiarity with test prep materials, scoring rubrics, and proctored exam tools.
  • Ability to tutor across additional academic subjects is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver one-on-one or small-group in-person tutoring sessions for:
  • ISEE (Lower, Middle, or Upper levels)
  • SAT and ACT
  • ERB (CTP and/or WrAP)
  • Assess student strengths and areas for growth using diagnostics and performance data.
  • Create and implement customized lesson plans that cover test content, strategies, and time management.
  • Teach academic content in math, reading comprehension, writing, and verbal reasoning.
  • Track student progress and communicate updates regularly with parents and/or program coordinators.
  • Maintain a positive, encouraging learning environment that fosters confidence and engagement.
