Daymark Recovery Services and Rockingham County Department of Social Services are working in conjunction to provide services via the START model. Comprehensive Benefits Package: Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Health Spending Account Company-Paid Life Insurance Short Term Disability 401(k) Paid Holidays Paid Vacation and Sick Leave Employee Assistant Program Referral Bonus Opportunities Extensive Internal Training Program Pay Scale: $48,000.00- $60,000.00 salary is based on level of degree and licensure Summary: The service coordinator will serve as a team member of the Sobriety Treatment and Recovery Teams (START) child welfare unit, whose goal is to reduce the number of children entering out-of-home care by providing intensive services and support to the families, improving reunification, and reducing the rate of children reentering care. The service coordinator is a trained substance use (SUD) and mental health (MH)/trauma disorder clinician who provides assessments, service coordination, and treatment expertise for START families and supports the START team. The service coordinator will conduct START parent assessments for SUD/MH and trauma treatment level of care, make treatment recommendations, and coordinate all treatment services. They provide treatment-specific consultation to the team and advise on effective approaches for families. They communicate with treatment providers to ensure seamless services are provided to families. The service coordinator will make treatment decisions jointly with the family based on input from the START dyad, training on the START model, guidelines provided by the supervisor, established precedents, standard procedures and practices, reference materials, and/or organizational policy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Participate in the initial and ongoing child and family team meetings Participate in identifying comprehensive parent and family services in collaboration with the START team Complete timely level of care assessments for SUD/MH and trauma services for START parents in accordance with START timeline requirements, and make treatment recommendations for parents using the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Placement Criteria within START timeline requirements Prioritize child safety and well-being when making treatment recommendations Use motivational interviewing (MI) to engage families in services Coordinate parent’s treatment services with child welfare workers and family mentors, Daymark Recovery Services, and other external service providers Attend and participate in START shared decision-making meetings and case reviews, report successes and challenges, and receive information about parent progress Follow-up with treatment providers to re-engage parents, advocate for parent needs, and develop new, more appropriate care plans with the parent if the parent is not engaging or progressing in services Work with a maximum caseload of 45 families Maintain regular communication with the START team about the parent’s services and progress and/or facilitate communication between service providers and the START team Attend monthly START Direct Line meetings, case reviews, and any other required meetings Build relationships with community partners in collaboration with the START team. Learn about the full array of services in the community Complete the required training to learn the position and organization Inform and educate the team about SUD/MH/trauma symptoms, disorders, and treatment approaches; clinical processes (e.g., ASAM); and the application of MI with family situations Help the START team and parents navigate Medicaid and other third-party requirements Monitor trends in treatment providers’ capacity to respond to parent’s needs within START program guidelines, for discussion with leadership Complete or receive weekly written reports and submit them to the START team for each family in the program; implement a quality assurance process to ensure that reports are complete and thorough Complete documentation. Coordinate programmatic data collection in preparing necessary reports for the START team and Daymark. Education and/or Experience Required Qualifications: Master’s degree, two years of direct service, and related licensure in counseling, social work, psychology, marital and family therapy, SUD counseling, or psychiatric nursing OR bachelor’s degree in human services and certified alcohol and drug counselor (CADC) Use MI to relate in a non-threatening manner to parents and other members of their family Work collaboratively with the START team, families, and community partners Thorough understanding of the SUD recovery process Effective communication skills with other staff and parents Ability to work in crisis situations and to balance competing priorities Preferred Qualifications: Training and clinical experience in the following: SUD core functions including assessment and treatment options; co-occurring MH disorders (e.g., depression, anxiety, bipolar, eating disorders, and complex trauma) screening, assessment, and treatment options; ASAM Placement Criteria and levels of care; MI; and working with people in various stages of change Working knowledge or willingness to learn about the following: trauma screening and treatment options, evidence-based and gender-sensitive treatments, medication for opioid use disorders, recovery supports (e.g., 12-Step Programs, Celebrate Recovery, and SMART Recovery), Medicaid and other third-party payment of services (e.g., service authorization, covered services, other funding options, network providers, and administrative claiming for social workers), overdose prevention, child welfare system, and intimate partner violence and sexual assault service options Creative thinking for solving family, team, and systemic barriers Qualifications
