SUMMARY:  A Starter/Marshal is a part-time staff member and is responsible for the overall management of orderly play by members and guests on the golf courses. They will communicate with pro-shop staff in regard to a change of tee times to accommodate guests.    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES but are not limited to include the following:    * Greets guests as they arrive at the first tee, reviews receipts to ensure that guests have registered at the clubhouse and obtains signed liability forms. * Advises guests of course conditions, pin locations, comfort stations, water coolers and on-course shelters. * Informs guests of course etiquette rules such as repairing divots, raking sand traps, repairing ball marks and the proper operation of golf carts. * Records start times and monitors play on the course to ensure that guests are playing at an acceptable pace. * Politely and tactfully asks guests to speed up play if they are behind an acceptable pace. * Sets up on-course signage and games as needed. * Completes a daily course conditions report identifying such things as standing water, downed trees, tee boxes with excessive divots or anything that appears out of place. * Completes a course closing checklist at night and receipts are filed, etc. * Informs the Lead Starter/Ranger of any matters that need immediate attention. * Keep all areas clean and sanitized as directed. * Maintains a regular and consistent attendance record.    QUALIFICATIONS: * Prior experience as a starter/marshal. * Ability to operate a motorized vehicle. * Valid Driver’s license.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   The Employee must have visual acuity for operation of golf carts and occasional operation of motor vehicles.   The Employee must be able to work outdoors under conditions ranging from extreme hot to extreme cold.   This position requires medium physical work including the ability to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects in the performance of duties.   The Employee may be exposed to gasoline and oil while operating and refueling of golf carts on a daily basis.  The Employee may also be exposed to wildlife on the golf course including coyotes, snakes, birds, spiders etc.  The Employee is exposed to second hand cigarette smoke. * Face-to-face / in person: High level of interaction with other employees, moderate to high with guests and vendors.  * Telephone interaction: High level of interaction with employees, vendors and guests.   BLACK MESA GOLF MISSION STATEMENT: Empowering our employees to provide genuine services to our clients with the purpose of increasing tribal business and economic development through team building by utilizing the infrastructure and facilities at Black Mesa Golf Course, Santa Clara Development Corporation and all of its entities.
