Job Description: Responsibilities Obtain, review and reconcile client data to prepare sales and use tax returns. Communicate and resolve any data related issues with client Send monthly sales tax return drafts and liability worksheets to clients for approval Directly work with clients to solve their various sales and use tax compliance related matters Prepare prior period returns using Vertex Indirect Tax Returns software (VITR) Assist with multi-state sales and use tax registration projects Assist with data entry for new client onboarding process including data mapping and testing Regularly update sales tax compliance related progress in compliance tracker for assigned clients Routinely and proactively upload the filed sales tax returns and other pertinent information in CCH ProSystem PFX portal for timely sign offs Assist with sales and use tax compliance system configuration projects in various sales tax compliance platforms, as requested by the sales tax compliance leadership team Assist on sales tax consulting related projects such as Voluntary Disclosure Agreements or sales tax audit support projects as requested by the sales tax compliance management team Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute towards implementing them Qualifications Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Commerce or Finance or similar required CPA (US) or CA (ICAI) preferred. If not a CPA (US) or CA (ICAI), must meet educational requirements to obtain the same upon hire in state of employment Minimum of 1 year of tax compliance and/or supervision experience preferred; public accounting experience preferred Previous experience in performing tax research and technical tax return review preferred Previous experience working with Vertex cloud-based sales and use tax preparation software solutions strongly preferred Previous experience working with sales and use tax preparation software solutions of other vendors (e.g., Avalara, TaxJar, OneSource, or similar vendors) preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be a highly motivated self-starter and have experience supervising multiple client engagements simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently Ability to structure and prioritize the assigned tasks, provide accurate estimation of time & effort, and clearly communicate status of tasks to stakeholders Proven record of being a fast learner Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Ability to travel as needed, not expected to be greater than approximately 10% Baker Tilly is a leading advisory, tax and assurance firm, providing clients with a genuine coast-to-coast and global advantage in major regions of the U.S. and in many of the world’s leading financial centers – New York, London, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Boston.
