Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Static Equipment Engineer to support a Hydrodesulfurization (HDS) project for a major client based in Rome, Italy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical specification, procurement support, and vendor follow-up for static equipment. As part of the engineering team, the role requires close coordination with contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure equipment design and procurement meet project and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review technical specifications, datasheets, and material requisitions for the purchase of static equipment, including pressure vessels, shell & tube heat exchangers, air coolers, columns, and reactors.
  • Evaluate and follow up with vendors throughout the procurement process to ensure compliance with technical requirements and delivery schedules.
  • Verify design compliance with applicable ASME and API standards and client specifications.
  • Participate in technical bid evaluations and vendor document reviews.
  • Support interdisciplinary coordination with process, piping, and project management teams.
  • Monitor progress of equipment manufacturing and support inspections, FATs, and delivery milestones.
  • Provide technical leadership and coordinate work with less senior engineers in the static equipment discipline.
  • Interface with the client team in Rome to provide updates, clarify technical issues, and ensure alignment with project objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the engineering and procurement of static equipment for oil & gas or petrochemical industry projects.
  • Proven expertise in specifying and procuring static equipment such as pressure vessels, shell & tube heat exchangers, air coolers, columns, and reactors. Experience with some (not all) of these equipment types will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant international codes and standards, especially ASME and API.
  • Experience in vendor follow-up and coordination of equipment supply.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance and coordination for junior engineers.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of Italian or French is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
